Comfortable Clothes for Each Month & the Fashion Style in Prague.

Prague is the central city of the Czech Republic and divided by the Vltava River. The city is labeled “The City of a Hundred Spires” because of the many Gothic designed churches, towers, and spires that adorn the municipality. The architecture is magnificent with brightly hued baroque edifices, statues of Catholic saints, an archaic Astronomical Clock, and much more!

Dressing for the Seasons in Prague

In general, the weather in Prague is mutable over a brief period of time but quite stable most of the year. A raincoat or jacket for unexpected downpours is advised along with a sturdy umbrella, especially during the summer season when the climate can become extremely wet. It's difficult to be your chicest during a downpour; however, you can manage if you have the right ensemble that won't lose its stylishness no matter what the weather. Winter will require lots of sweaters with long sleeve tops under a smart winter coat or jacket. Spring and fall are great for layering and noted as the most comfortable months of the year. In fact, you will see people around the city wearing the latest fashions with savoir-faire and finesse. Keep in mind, the people of Prague have a robust fashion sense and like getting noticed for it.

Winter
The winter season gets cold (temperatures can go below zero) and starts in November and ends early March. A heavy jacket preferably made from quilt, down feathers, or wool with a warm pair of gloves and hat should keep you warm. Be sure to have a warm pair of boots on hand as well. A long coat known as a maxi-coat that goes just above or to the ankle, will help protect you from the cold wind.

Spring
The weather is pleasant and mild during this time of year. Break out in your best cool casual styled clothing or your fanciest garb, it doesn't matter. Prague has a flair for fashion and spring can be a good time to give them your best. The beginning of spring in the city may still be a bit chilly. Keep a jacket, denim is fine or a lightweight blazer, with you. Layering is another option with a light sweater and t-shirt. Comfortable shoes to support your arch are practical and if you must wear high heels, stay away from the cobblestone streets!

Summer
You will feel the heat in summer as temperatures can occasionally reach intense highs. Humidity may become an issue from June until mid-September. Shorts, skirts/sundresses, khakis, t-shirts, cotton shirts, the usual summer garb that you see in most European cities will work fine. Summers can be rainy so make sure to keep an easy to fold umbrella with you. It will get humid, this is why breathable fabrics that won't cling to the skin or cause you to sweat are best.

Fall
Considered one of the favorite times to be in the city, the beautifully colored foliage and amazing views are enough to keep you outside most of the day. A semi-heavy coat, warm socks, gloves, and boots will be needed. Bulky sweaters and tops for layering will come in handy. These items will take you into November when the very cold weather begins.

A Few Extras

Just a reminder to keep comfortable footwear in your closet. High heels are fine but the brick lined streets will do a job on your stilettos as the heel can easily get stuck between the cracks. In addition, it's simply too uncomfortable to walk over uneven surfaces like cobblestones and remain gracious.

You can dress in your best gear in Prague. The locals love to wear elegant sophisticated clothing to concerts or the theater. It doesn't mean that casual wear is not popular; however, there's so much to do and see in the city you should take advantage of the chance to wear your best. Besides, there are plenty of nightspots where you can wear your chicest outfit while enjoying the party scene.

As a whole, the city of Prague has it all with every type of dress you can imagine. You may not see too many people walking around with tattoos on their neck or five rings in their nose; however, there's plenty of room in the city to dress as you please as long as it's done with style!

The Weather in Prague

The Czech Republic has four distinct seasons. Which means that you will have a choice of clothing to wear throughout the year and the opportunity to show-off your entire wardrobe. Prague offers a European climate primarily determined by the weather blueprints approaching from the Atlantic to the west and Siberia to the east. The weather can be extreme during each season. For example, in winter the cold can be brutal and in summer extremely hot. During the in-between seasons like spring and autumn, the weather is rather pleasant.

The median temperatures are the most enjoyable during July and August with highs roughly 73°F or 23°C with spurts of higher temperatures of several degrees. Winter months are cold with temperatures dropping as low as 5°F or -15°C now and then. Still, people from all over the world flock to the well-known Christmas Market each year regardless of the cold temperature. It rarely snows and the precipitation is somewhat equally dispersed throughout the year with the dampest period between May and August. Consequently, you will need your rain gear always on standby if you want to stay dry. Spring is the season where flowers bloom and the city's flora comes to life. Though March may still have some snow, May is the season when summery weather makes an entrance. Casual styled lightweight garb will be suitable as temperatures average a comfortable 18-23°C or 64-73°F.

PRAGUE

Each one of Prague's boroughs has it's own distinct appeal. For these reasons and more, the city has a magical charm. Experiences become memorable whether it's sipping a beer at the local weatherworn pub or admiring the Charles Bridge with friends or a special loved one. What's more, Prague is versatile and flawlessly interchanges between the old and new. And though the city is filled with history and a bevy of attractions, it has a cosmopolitan flair that's packed with fashion and panache. You will have carte blanche to express your fashion style in this magnificent municipality.
