Clothes for each Season & each Month

We provide information on appropriate clothes for each season and clothes for each month (Monthly Recommended Clothes).

Clothes for each Season

Barcelona is the main city in Catalonia, Spain. Barcelona is a refreshing city full of warmth and good-times all-year-round, which means that your wardrobe can go from casual to glam in one day in any season! Though erratic temperatures are uncommon, it's always best to have a wardrobe that's practical for the seasons.

Dressing for the Seasons

Spring
During spring, the answer to dressing in Barcelona is layering. The weather can get rainy and temperatures a bit cool. Choose versatile pieces for layering that you can mix-and-match with a number of looks. Jeans are fine with a casual or dressy top. Wear flats or wedgies during the day and heels if you want to dress up your look up a bit with a stylish dress/skirt or pair of elegant slacks.

Summer
Wear bright and rich hues or pastels in summer. Stylish dresses, cotton slacks in a neutral or pastel shade, breathable fabrics like cotton and linen are fashionable. Men in Barcelona wear colors as well. An egg-yolk yellow colored t-shirt with jeans are fine for male attire. The idea is comfort and style during the summer season.

Fall
Navy or any dark colored jeans with an attractive sweater neatly accessorized will work. Casual during the day and fancy for the evening is an appropriate concept to go by. Decorative accessorizes like a fringe shoulder bag or a decorative knit headband are also chic.

Winter
Winter wear in Barcelona is just as versatile as the rest of the year. Dresses and skirts with opaque stockings or tights with interesting patterns are trendy. Colorful sweaters worn under a warm jacket with jeans and a pair of leather ankle boots work just fine. A nice wool coat in a bright shade and elegant scarf will take you far. Other items that will keep you ready for the winter season is an umbrella and comfortable boots with a warm lining but not too heavy.

TIP

The cobblestone streets in Barcelona can be tricky for walking if you're not wearing the proper shoes. High heels will be uncomfortable and could possibly cause you to fall or twist your ankle. Because the city is a city-for-walking, make sure that you wear comfortable shoes. Flat shoes or wedgies are recommended. If you must wear heels for a night out on the town stay away from the cobblestone streets!

In addition, if you plan on visiting the many famous churches in the city be sure to dress modestly. Though it is not required of all churches, the usual attire requires that you cover your knees and shoulders, this also includes men.
